BIOGRAPHY
Javier is internationally recognized as a specialist in insolvency and complex commercial matters. He is regularly consulted by companies and attorneys on issues within his area of expertise.
For more than 30 years, he has represented debtors and creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, corporate matters, and commercial litigation. He has been appointed as an expert witness in bankruptcy proceedings initiated by a foreign debtor, all of which were heard before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
Javier is a tenured assistant professor of commercial law at the School of Law, University of Buenos Aires (U.B.A.), the Argentine Catholic University (U.C.A.), and various graduate programs.
He has participated and continues to participate in countless conferences and symposia both in the country and abroad, speaking on topics within his field of expertise.
He is the author of several published books (and contributions to books), as well as more than ninety articles published in specialized journals both nationally and internationally.
For several years, he has been recognized by Apertura magazine as one of the 50 most prominent lawyers in Argentina and by Chambers & Partners internationally.
He is currently a member of the International Bar Association, INSOL International (serving on the Latin American Committee from 2008 to the present), the International Insolvency Institute (member of the Board of Directors for the 2019–2021 term), a founding partner of the Ibero-American Institute of Insolvency Law, and a member of the Argentine Institute of Commercial Law.
Before becoming a partner at Lorente & Lopez, he was a partner at Estudio Vanasco and at NTMDALL.
